Common questions
A little clarity,
before the first chapter.
You don’t need to know how publishing works to start a conversation. Here are a few answers to help you find your footing.
Do I need a finished manuscript?
No. You can come to us with an idea, a collection of material, an early draft, or a finished manuscript. The first conversation helps us work out where you are and what support makes sense.
Can a book start with my videos, newsletter, or course?
Yes. Your existing material can be a starting point. We help consider what belongs in the book, what needs developing, and how to give readers a complete experience. You will need the rights to any material used.
How do partnerships and fees work?
Projects may involve a service fee, a revenue-sharing arrangement, or a combination of both. We discuss the scope, responsibilities, costs, and terms before work begins. Revenue-sharing partnerships are considered individually.
Can I ask for just one service?
Absolutely. You can enquire about editing, proofreading, a cover, interior layout, an ebook, or launch materials. We will agree a specific scope for the work you need.
Will the book still sound like me?
Your voice is central to the project. We work from your ideas and reference material, discuss tone early, and build in review points so you can guide the work.
Do you help with both physical books and ebooks?
Yes. We can discuss print and digital preparation, or a combination of both. Printing, distribution, fulfillment, and their associated costs are agreed separately within the project scope.
How long does a book project take?
That depends on the starting material, length, format, level of support, and your availability for feedback. We agree a realistic schedule after understanding the project, rather than promising the same timeline for every book.
Who owns the book and makes the final decisions?
Ownership, permissions, approval responsibilities, account access, and any revenue-sharing arrangements are set out in the project agreement before work starts. We will walk through these with you during the proposal stage.
Do you guarantee sales or a publishing deal?
No. We help develop and prepare a thoughtful book, but audience response, sales, retailer acceptance, and publishing deals cannot be guaranteed. Launch support is defined by the deliverables in your project scope.
